The Grounds and Garden

All around the house, the land unfolds into a tapestry of trees, moss-covered granite boulders, and hidden nooks that invite exploration — natural sanctuaries for meditation, reflection, and communion with the land.

The old buckeye tree at the heart of the property stands as a silent witness to these moments of transformation, receiving our wishes and carrying them skyward. Whether seated upon the earth or resting on a sun-warmed granite boulder, guests are invited to connect deeply with the land — to feel its grounding energy and join in the timeless conversation between earth and spirit.

On the back deck, rain or shine, bird feeders draw a chorus of life — hummingbirds, finches, sparrows, and jays, while the gentle sounds of trickling water mingle with the occasional croak of a frog. Within the miniature patio ponds, tiny Japanese medaka rice fish shimmer among floating plants, offering a tender reminder of the peace and wonder that dwell in simple moments.

Surrounded by high fences for protection from opportunistic deer, the garden is easily accessed by humans through six entrances — two from inside the house, one through the garage, and three external gates.

The Art Room (office) and laundry room both open onto a cozy garden deck furnished with two patio chairs and a bistro table, perfect for quiet reflection or enjoying hot morning beverages. (More photos coming soon.)

Rose bushes, crape myrtles, rose mallows, camellias, lilies, a magnolia tree, and other flowering perennials and shrubs bloom in harmony with the seasons. Near the garage, calla lilies and shade-loving ornamentals surround a joyful fountain where birds gather for refreshment.

Two garden beds rest ready for planting — soon to be filled with herbs, tomatoes, and green beans come spring and summer 2026.
